EA earnings call and release date

Nothing really new here but just so everyone is on the same page.

Q2 begins July 1, Q3 ends Dec 31. They are talking Calender year 2011 and Fiscal year 2012.

Basically, the game is supposed to ship after July 1st (that we already knew) and might slip to the end of the year (if needed). Although, it appear that July-Sept is their true target. And there's Stephen's twitter: "Star Wars: The Old Republic is expected to launch in the second half of 2011." Half of the year start in July...

I think it's a lot more interesting that they don't want to tell the competition when they will release the game, which mean we will probably have less then 1 month between announcement and release (which would explain Stephen hours or weeks, not months comment from last week).

Everybody is putting their money on September, which mean that they won't release the game in September. That's what the competition is now expecting.

I'm really thinking of an August release, with open beta starting in July.

How do you figure they're targeting July-September? The only thing we know for sure they're targeting is July-December (which is what they are publicly saying). Everything else is speculation.

Also, I wouldn't count too much on them trying to "surprise" everyone - they're simply gonna release it when it's ready (I understand how one might argue they will wait for a good time but them sitting around doing nothing is not very effective).

As for July-September. There's a quote somewhere in that report saying that it might slip in Q3 and at worst January. The "slip" suggest July-September being the main target... well, at least to me.
