Proposal - (FNC) Friday Night Chat!

Hey Guys!
A long time ago there was a thing called MNC in SWG pre launch forums, it was a great way for players to come together and was run by the ever great IwannabeMaraJade
If you remember her or were apart of pre launch SWG this might be somethign you know about,

Id like to suggest maybe every second friday we get together jump in the chat box here and just talk about TOR invite the forums over, and have a topic for every chat sessions.

Its something thats a little fun, and brings us all together in one place

This might be a slight bit easier, for an actual scheduled chat.

I'd go, I've been using the chat functions a lot.

Further thoughts:

- The question is, can you use our chat without having registered here before (as anonymous, or more like choosing a nick so you can still be recognized. because I don't think everyone will be willing to sign up in here to chat)?

- Can the chat handle that many members? (It has lagged before - I don't know if it is going to get more when more people get in the chat? I assume not, but asking before is always better than cursing after)

- EU/US split: Personally I'd find it great if we could all be chatting together. Maybe there is a way. How about 6 or 7 pm EST? that is 12 or 1 am CET (if it conflicts with working hours we could pick saturday or sunday instead). Of course if it doesn't work we'll have to split. But I'd rather avoid that to be honest. At least to begin with, as at the beginning it might end up to be rather empty if we further split it.

I agree with you, but it's not just about this tiny formal barrier. When people have to sign up somewhere to do a thing they do not want to do at all cost, they most likely will feel a further, psychological barrier that might keep them from joining in.

Then again, I do not completely dislike this since it will filter out the trolls, if you will.

So we might just leave it that way.


It might also greatly attract people to our cause, as a welcomed side-effect

Good idea, like that we will have other things to talk about than unplayable kel-dor and companions.

Only hitch on the "Schwen side", is, that I dj most (95%) of the Friday nights. If you do it earlier with the USer's and not too late for the EUer's, that would be optimal for me. (I'm in CST (GMT-6))

Ill look to kick it off next weekend, just need to confirm some real life obligations

Btw, in my opinion, it's best to leave the chat to those who registered. (as it is now) And as far as I know, lots of chat rooms ask that you do before joining, if for nothing else but to have a unique nick.

I've seen some guild sites from TOR that's littered with jerks just signing in to either tell guildX that guildZ is teh roxxors or to just generally grief the guild they're visiting. The moderators are usually busy kicking people rather than enjoying a nice chat with friends. I know, not every Anonymous is there with such attitudes, but being able to have your own nick nobody else can use is a safety feature for everyone.

I dunno... I still stand on my point that one is better, at least for now. This is after all a project that is still in its beginnings.

No, not at all

I was merely pointing out I would join regardless of time and if we split it up or not.

I should add that I'm for an FNC be it one or two chats. I'll leave it up to this community to deside which is best.
