| This idea struck me as I was responding to Grome's idea to add an awards section to the RiG website. What are your thoughts on having community awards for individual achievements in sportsmanship, respect, and charity toward others within our community? It seems like something like this might be a good way to positively reinforce the ideas we're trying to forward here. Any thoughts? | |

| Another great idea Vari'! Once the game launches, you can even add IG perks/items/loot as rewards! That would prolly parallel some of Arz'/my Player event Ideas. | |

| I'm for it.
When BSG was playing I participated in the Golden Toaster Awards (in the background), fan giving away fan awards to the show.
This is similar, expect it's the community giving community awards to the community players.

| I always knew I would one day go on to inspire thousands of people. We can call it the "Grome Community Award".
It's a very nice idea, all we have to do is figure out the details. It should not end up in people thinking they can get phat lewt. The main point should really be about them doing something for the community.

| Really like this idea I might even get mugs or t-shirt made up or something? In game items is another thing we could add, and I am sure we can come up with some other ideas too | |

| I definitely like this idea too. It'd be nice for someone to reward good conduct...rather than just the game rewarding a "get it at whatever cost" attitude. | |

| You can also have a spot, maybe on the main page where you could put up a pic (maybe IG screenie or something if noone wants their actual pic). And maybe do like stores do, have the monthly winner's pic up and say why they won for the month. | |

| Tread carefully, these ideas really polarise people. You will get the "Greta idea woooohooo" group and the " this is the stupidest idea i have ever heard because I wont win any and just a popularity contest" group.
If you have something dont over do it, Yearly award gathering " The TORcars"
Other easy ways to reward poeple Have a Shout Out Thread running on the server forums Purpose of this is to say things to people let it known that they were appreciated ie " Repsect to Guild X great pvp last night!" "Crafter Y, appreciate you getting that armour done for me asap! thanks man" "RolePlayer 2, great story last night" "Group Z great work in that raid, healer 3 you saved our asses!"

| Shout out thread is a good idea!
Awards can still be good if handled right. Not overdoing is indeed important. If we come up with good awards and ways to promote them, it can work out well.
It can backfire as well. People ending up saying "who the hell do they think they are to hand out awards?". This means that maybe the simple shout out thread is a better idea, awards running the risk to create unwanted feelings ("I did way better than HIM on that... how come he got the reward?"). Of course this isn't bound to happen given the community is right (it should be, considering the project).

| Exactly what makes US qualified We could come up with catergories, and have players vote/send in nominations. It would take work
The key to anything like this is timing, do it too much and you lose the appeal

| I think we all agree that we will be willing to work for our community Players sending in the nominations and votes is a good way to work it out! I also like the morning coffee thread idea | |

For the Golden Toaster Awards, we asked people to send nominations for the categories first, then picked the 5 most popular ones per categories for the final vote (unless there was a draw, I think a few categories with 6-7 nominations, some where lower too). It does turn into a popularity contest, but most people won't vote/nominate Mister Jerk as the most helpful player on the server and people tend to vote for what they "experienced", if they don't know a player they won't vote for him either.

| Social threads do go a long way, i dont think they should be underrated You have your funny threads, your srs bns threads, and you need your social threads, laid back to help bring the community in touch, make people feel welcome You dont need a bazillion threads either | |

| Another thing we did in SWG that was hilarous, was, make up some "craftable item". We'd title them as trophies, then give them out as "awards". I still dunno if the "crew skills" will be anywhere near that, but, it'd be killer to give out RiG awards...actually IN GAME! comments?? | |
