RIFT Beta VIP Guild Invite

Hey Cold, Tee was talking to me last night about the guild idea for Rift. Makes sense to me. As to running a guild...well, I'd consider running one IF we did what we've talked about before, the use of officers specializing in guild functions. I think the Guild Leader shouldn't have to be the Raid Leader, the Crafting Specialist, the Recruiting Officer, etc. I'm also a bit concerned about starting a guild 'cause I know when TOR rolls around, we're pretty much gone and I hate the idea of leaving the non-TOR players in the lurch. If we joined someone else's guild, they would know that this would happen up front when TOR is released. Anyway, we can discuss this in vent one night.

yeah, we can talk in vent...that's one major concern actually...when we leave for TOR. That's why I think it would be better just to join a guild. Then we're not killing ours when we leave. Cuz as you said, I'm sure there would be those who want to stay with Rift and not go to TOR. And they might feel like we just abandoned them. Even if we tell them ahead of time.

Well, I just got my beta invite for #6! Just updated both the client and the updater, now I just need Friday to roll around... lol. BTW, I discovered that we're on Rocklift server, not Rockcliff... We Crazies are not known to read quests closely so I guess we don't pay that much attention to server names either.

Alright peoples!! Tee chiming in here with my 2 cents....!

From the very first toon, within under an hour of actual gameplay, I was hooked!!! This game rocks socks!! Its not you're average quest/grind to max level game. There's actually stuff going on around you all the time. Between the Rifts opening up, fighting off the Invasions, or questing, crafting, pvp'n, this games got everything!! Also, Id like to note, that the community so far is very kick arse! The devs keep everyone up to date and informed of what they're doing and give good details on a lot of things as well.

Its informative, funny and just plain ole kick arse!! I mean what other games are out there where the devs are craking mom jokes!

So if anyone is interested in playing on a PVE server with some Crazies and any other RIG gamers, you're more than welcome to join up with us on the Rocklift server, Defiant side. And if you want to roll Guardian, thats fine too, mayhaps we'll meet on the battlefield!!

And who knows, if we get enough Crazies/RIG peoples, perhaps we could start our own guild up in RIFT and play till TOR launches. That or join up with a good guild. Either way, I'm excited about RIFT and can't wait to play the Beta this weekend. And I look forward to seeing everyone there as well!

I wasn't fussed about Rift. I was in the beta test last week and it's OK. I've got the next invite for this new round but I'm not going to bother, it's already off my PC. But, that said, it's a far better game than Earthrise will ever be. Pure excrement.

Naww thats just blur, he's a bit pickier about his games, but more fun for us !

One of the great things about the gaming community is that there's usually something out there that we all like, it's just not necessarily the same thing. Enjoy what you want to enjoy Blur. As for me, 25 minutes... lol.

Well, after a couple hours of beta I've decided to pre-order as well!
This should hold me over nicely till old republic.
Made my first toon a Guardian though, but I'll make a Defiant soon to see thier story and meet some of you Crazies.
Love the freedom of the class system...can hop from being a palidan tank to being a dual wielder when I want to hack and slash...brilliant!
Gonna be a long month waiting for this to go gold though...

This wasn't even on my radar but I've been watching videos and checking the rift site and this looks like it will be a lot of fun till TOR comes out. If you guys are cool with it I would love to use one of your beta keys and hook up with the Crazies in game. Send me a PM or just reply and let me know, thanks guys!

Ah beta is over tomorrow now that I looked into it and with a release date of 3/1 I'm not sure that they will have another one, but I think I'm going to go ahead and pre-order from steam.

Any thoughts on the character classes you have played?

I have played all four major types, but not all of the variations. I think my favorite so far is rogue (specifically ranger/marksman combination). You have a razorback as a tank and it's all about ranged attacks. Reminds me of WoW hunters from pre-BC. I also have leveled a mage (necromancer/warlock) and a cleric (druid/shaman) to the low 20's. I really like how you can change the soul trees to suit your style. Guess the question I have is what type of character do you like to play?

BTW, the Crazies ran the Iron Tomb instance last night. That's the first instance that the Defiant side has access to. It was lots of fun and challenging, plus the loot was pretty sweet too. Been awhile since I appreciated a below cap dungeon.

I think I will end up trying a rogue Assassin/Bladedancer/Riftstalker combo. Anywho let me know what you guys end up doing, I would love to tag along since my MMO friend pool is limited.

I looked over some of those videos too, but after I had played my rogue some. I've done some of the souls you're picking, but not that particular combination. Probably a lot of fun though. One comment in the video you linked to rings very true, the instance is harder than I am use to for a low level instance and the bosses do require some strategies. Nice to pick up those types of habits early on.

The current beta is ending tomorrow, but there's at least one more beta before the release. Join us if you like, we created a guild last night (Rocklift server, defiant side) and are exploring that now. Guilds have perks and guild quests, gonna take some getting use to.

We finally made it through IT! Really nice instance. Took us noobs about 3 hours to run it if I remember right. Had to get used to our group make-up. And had to get the healing down (there are afterall numerous builds for a healer). They definitely made the mobs a lot harder. We wiped about 4 times on the first boss before we figured out how to combat the bleed he does...it's visious! It stacks so fast that sooner or later the tank is almost imposible to heal. For sure a healer check.

I finally earned enough points in PvP to get my PvP soul. And just to find out that each row of abilities for that tree requires the next rank of PvP...meaning I was able to get my first 2 abilities from the tree and that was it. PvP rank 2 is not until max level 50. Or I should say you don't start gaining ranks until 50, so that kind of sucked. Was looking forward to playing with that PvP soul.

Yay! The next beta starts on the 15th and it's for a week. Only bad thing is I work tuesday through saturday and am on call from 9am to 9pm most days and it has been busy lately (i did 53 hours last week, sheesh), so we'll see how it goes, at least I will get to try it out and see some of the different class combos.

I was playing a Ranger/Marksman as well and while strong I didn't think there was a lot of synergy between the two. Most of the powers were redundant from one to the other (quick shot/swift shot for example) and a lot of the talent points only applied bonuses to powers specific to one soul. I was thinking of replacing Marksman and going with two of Blade Dancer, Riftstalker, and/or Sabetour along with ranger. The first level talents of these three souls I find to be much more useful for Ranger than the options from Marksman. Bladedancer gets you +5% to Hot, Riftstalker gets +15% Attack Power , and Saboteur gets +15 % Dex. Any numbers crunchers know which 2 of these three talents would be the most beneficial?

I also found the cleric to be very versatile. I was soloing with a Inquisitor/Purifier/Warden and that was a lot of fun. But I really like being able to create other specs as well. I had a healing spec for groups, and if I really wanted to I could've create a tank spec.
